How to Use This Calculator

1

Enter date ranges

For each range, set the inclusive start and end dates. Add as many ranges as your scenario requires.

2

Compare outputs

Each range displays total days, business days (Monday–Friday), and weekend days. Use this for overlapping projects or comparing phases.

3

Review combined totals

The combined section aggregates all ranges so you know overall time commitments across multiple windows.

Formula

Total Days = (End − Start) + 1

Business Days = Count of weekdays within range

Aggregated totals = Σ per-range values

Example: Range 1 (Jan 1–Jan 10) + Range 2 (Feb 1–Feb 5) = 15 total days, 10 business days, 5 weekend days in all.

Planning Tips

Multiple date comparisons are helpful when juggling overlapping initiatives, vacation schedules, or comparing vendor timelines.

  • Break complex projects into phases and add each range to track time spent.
  • Compare vacation requests across departments to ensure coverage.
  • Review contract performance by evaluating separate deliverable windows.
  • Use combined totals to estimate staffing or budget across all time spans.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I track overlapping ranges?

Yes. Each range is calculated independently, so overlapping days appear in each relevant range. Combined totals add them together.

Are holidays excluded?

Not automatically. Export the ranges and pair them with a holiday list in a spreadsheet or use the Business Days Calculator for finer control.

Does the order of ranges matter?

No—the calculator simply loops through the list. Reorder ranges to prefer chronological viewing if desired.

How many ranges can I add?

Add as many as you need. For very large lists, consider exporting to CSV for archival or further analysis.
