Enter the values consistently
Stick to one unit system (all centimeters or all inches). The calculator converts internally to classify your silhouette.
Review the classification
Use the shape guidance to tailor clothing choices, posture goals, and fitness focus. Remeasure periodically to track changes.
Formula
Body shape classifications compare the proportional differences between bust, waist, and hip circumferences. Ratios help determine where the body carries volume.
- Hourglass: (Bust − Waist) >= 9 cm and (Hips − Waist) >= 10 cm with |Bust − Hips| ≤ 5 cm.
- Top Hourglass: Hourglass criteria + Bust > Hips.
- Bottom Hourglass: Hourglass criteria + Hips > Bust.
- Pear: Hips − Bust >= 3 cm and Hips − Waist >= 7 cm.
- Inverted Triangle: Bust − Hips >= 3 cm and Bust − Waist >= 7 cm.
- Rectangle: Bust, waist, and hip measurements within about 3 cm of each other.
- Apple: Waist is greater than or equal to bust and hip measurements.
Measurements are converted to centimeters before comparison. Adjust thresholds slightly to match your styling preferences.
Understanding Body Shapes
Your body shape provides insight into clothing cuts that enhance proportions, posture exercises to try, and how weight changes may appear visually. Keep in mind that body shape classification focuses on external measurements and does not reflect fitness, health, or beauty.
Fluctuations in hydration, posture, and measurement technique can influence the results. Repeating the measurements a few times improves accuracy. Use your classification as a helpful reference, not a rigid category.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to measure over specific clothing?
Take measurements over lightweight clothing or fitted undergarments. Bulky layers can add extra centimeters or inches and affect classification.
Can my body shape change?
Yes. Weight changes, muscle development, and posture improvements can shift ratios among bust, waist, and hips.
What if my shape is “undefined”?
Either your measurements fall between categories or input data might be inaccurate. Remeasure carefully and consider how you appear visually.
Is one body shape healthier than others?
Body shape reflects proportions, not health. Focus on balanced nutrition, movement, and confidence regardless of your category.
